Know Your Why to Travel Work

There are so many reasons that draw techs from all over the country to travel work. What is drawing you to this lifestyle change?

Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny space you occupy in the world.

Let’s explore a few reasons that people choose travel work over permanent positions.

Some of these may have already been on your mind, and hopefully we’ll explore a few that you hadn’t even considered!

Freedom

We all know its the American dream to live free, but what does that really mean? Most of us are in permanent positions working 5, 6, or even 7 days a week with a week or two of vacation to fit that camping trip or vacation to Disneyland once a year without even being able to enjoy it.

What if I told you the freedom that travel work gives you is much like what a business owner experiences. YOU become in control of your schedule, your rates, and the time that you take off.

Want to spend a month backpacking through SE Asia? YOU can make that happen!

Need to go home for three weeks to spend time with a sick family member? YOU can take that time!

The freedom of travel work is worth it if you’re willing to take a little bit of a risk and live a unconventional life.

Flexibility

Let’s talk a little bit more about the flexibility that travel work allows. Usually contracts last for 13 weeks. That means every 13 weeks you can take a vacation if you want to!

Go visit family, explore the local area, or jump onto that next assignment if you so choose! Few people can say they have an option to go anywhere they want every three months with no holds barred!

Travel

Who else can say they get to see the country while getting paid? Travel workers! If there are certain areas of the country you’d like to see all you have to do is let your recruiter know!

There are plenty of contracts available all across the United States. You’ll be able to do plenty of sight seeing in the time you spend at each place!

Cash Money

Oh, and did I mention the fat stacks you’ll be making while you’re there? Not only can you fetch a higher hourly rate and some tasty per diems, but up to half of that cash will be tax free!

We’ll explore this in a lot more detail in future posts but trust me, you’re going to be making bank.

Early Retirement

After you buy all those fancy trinkets with your newfound cash, maybe its time to explore some other options… What if I told you that retirement could be possible in 5, 10, or 15 years from now if you start taking some calculated steps towards saving and buy back your time and FREEDOM with that extra cash?

In our finance series we will explore some basics of personal finance, taxes, and views on the FIRE (financially independent retired early) community to give you plenty of ideas and options to fund your future.
